A-Level PE will suit students who have a passion for physical and mental well-being and sport. Students will examine themselves as performing individuals and will analyse and evaluate athletes competing at the elite sporting level. The course content introduces and develops students' understanding of physiological, psychological, sociological and historical aspects of sport. You will work towards being able to improve your own performance and understand what makes a champion.

The majority of lessons are classroom-based, there are a few practical lessons where students must be prepared to complete fitness tests and will have to analyse and explain their results. Students will be assessed in one sport and can take on the role of either a performer or coach in that chosen sport. Most sports are allowed, details of accredited sports can be found out from the PE department or the OCR website. They are compared nationally, and will require detailed evidence including a video and a log-book comprising of training and performances.
A-Level PE feeds into many University courses, including Sport and Exercise Science, Human Life Science, Nursing, Occupational Health and Safety, Occupational Therapy, Osteopathy, Outdoor Pursuits, PE Teaching, Medicine, Physiotherapy, Leisure Management, Nutrition, Chiropractic, and Dance Studies.
