The SUM (Supporting Mathematics) Centre at Haybridge exists to provide support and training for mathematics teachers in Primary and Secondary schools.
We run numerous training courses throughout the year and can provide SLE support to your department. In recent years we have supported new Heads of Department to run their departments smoothly and effectively, we have trained experienced and new teachers, we have designed courses for non-specialists teaching mathematics, and we have visited numerous mathematics departments to offer whatever support they would like.
Jemma has been supporting mathematics departments and teachers since 2008, first as an Advanced Skills Teacher and now as a Specialist Leader in Education (SLE). She has a proven track record of helping struggling departments to make huge improvements and particularly enjoys working with heads of department to improve their systems and management. Jemma leads a number of mathematics courses here at The SUM Centre, aimed at both Primary and Secondary teachers and leaders. She is an NCETM PD Lead and in 2015 was a finalist in the category Teacher of the Year in a Secondary School at the Pearson Teaching Awards, receiving a Silver Award.
Paul is an experienced Head of Department and has joined The SUM Centre in both a school-to-school support role and a training role.
