Haybridge Sixth Form Open Morning – Saturday, 11 January- Book a time

Sixth Form Open Evening will be on Thursday 22nd October from 5.00pm to 8.00pm.

Haybridge is open today Wednesday 20th November for all year groups.

Students and staff must take great care when making their way to school as after the recent snowfall roads and pavements may be a cause for concern and should only be travelled if families and individuals consider it safe to do so in their particular circumstances.

Please report any absences in the usual way.

Our last communication from the school transport companies suggested that they are running a normal service and they have yet to make us aware of any changes or cancellation to services.

CURRICULUM CATCH UP: GEOGRAPHY 🌎

Our students have worked hard in Geography this half term both in the classroom and on fieldtrips! Year 7 have been learning how to interpret contour lines, measure distance and sketch maps, whilst year 8 have explored the components of the water cycle, and year 9 have learnt about international migration.

In GCSE Geography, our year 10s have explored Birmingham’s opportunities, challenges and the impacts of urban sprawl. Over the last 2 weeks, all year 11 geography students have conducted their human geography fieldtrip investigating the settlement of Hagley by conducting primary data collection like environmental surveys and questionnaires.

In year 12 human geography, students have been learning about place identity and for physical geography they visited Carding Mill Valley where students investigated the water balance equation by conducting infiltration, interception and stream velocity experiments.

Year 13 have been exploring low energy coastal environments in physical geography and learning about how global governance can prevent human rights abuses in human geography.

Remember that Geography drop-in sessions are Wednesdays after school. Pop up to the Humanities floor to ask a question about revision, your homework or a specific concept.

Year 10 have been working on a range of number topics, while Year 11 have begun their final year by tackling algebra, including quadratics.

Students have made a fantastic start to the year, working incredibly hard on Sparx Maths! So far, they have answered over 237,320 questions correctly and spent more than 2,410 hours learning. That’s already over 600 hours more than the total at this point last year – an amazing achievement!

Leading the September Sparx leaderboard is Mateen I (7E) with an impressive 19,000+ Sparx XP! Hot on his heels is Leo L (7E) with over 9,000 XP, followed by Aahil L (7G) with more than 5,000 XP.Can anyone catch our leaderboard leaders? Keep up the fantastic work, everyone!
