YEAR 7: FURTHER PLACES MAY BE AVAILABLE – CONTACT US FOR DETAILS VIA EMAIL AT admissions@haybridge.worcs.sch.uk

Haybridge Sixth Form Open Morning – Saturday, 11 January- Book a time

Sixth Form Open Evening will be on Thursday 22nd October from 5.00pm to 8.00pm.

Haybridge is open today Wednesday 20th November for all year groups.

Students and staff must take great care when making their way to school as after the recent snowfall roads and pavements may be a cause for concern and should only be travelled if families and individuals consider it safe to do so in their particular circumstances.

Please report any absences in the usual way.

Our last communication from the school transport companies suggested that they are running a normal service and they have yet to make us aware of any changes or cancellation to services.

UNIFORM AND EQUIPMENT

School uniform plays a valuable role in contributing to the ethos of our school and setting an appropriate tone. We have a school uniform as we strongly believe it can instil pride; support positive behaviour and discipline; encourage identity with, and support for school ethos; ensure students of all backgrounds feel welcome; protect young people from social pressures to dress in a particular way; and nurture cohesion and promote good relations between different groups of students. It is also our experience that this view is strongly supported by parents/carers.

Full school uniform should be worn at all times including travel to and from school. Outdoor coats may be worn over, but not instead of, blazers which are compulsory in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. Hoodies or non-approved school jumpers may not be worn under school blazers.

The basic colours for the Haybridge uniform are brown and honey gold. The Haybridge logo is included on the blazer pocket. We recommend that name tapes should be put into all garments.

School uniform can be purchased from Totally Uniform or from Crested Schoolwear, located at 30 Worcester Street, Kidderminster, DY10 1EQ, or online

We now have two uniform suppliers and our PTA runs a regular uniform shop selling good quality second hand uniform. This is to ensure that uniform costs are kept to a minimum for parents/carers.

Item of Uniform

Details of the Uniform Expectation

Belts

Plain black with no designer buckle.

Blazer

Trutex Brown polyester with Haybridge logo on breast pocket. Blazers must be worn at all times.

Hair

Long hair (shoulder length or longer) should be tied back from the face at all times and secured at the back of the head (not on top). Hair bobbles / ties used to tie the hair back should be black or brown – other colours are not acceptable. Hair bands or ‘scrunchies’ are not to be worn. No extreme hair styles or colours are permissible – this includes hair that is not of a natural colour, shaved excessively short or has shaved patterns / skin fades that are not a traditional ‘short-back-and-sides’.

Jewellery

Students may only wear the following jewellery: a wrist-watch and one pair of small, plain gold or silver stud earrings which should be worn in the ear lobes (one in each ear). No other jewellery or piercings are acceptable. For PE, jewellery should be removed. If earrings cannot be removed as they have been recently pierced, they should be taped over until they have healed. Following this, students should remove their earrings for PE.

Jumper (optional)

Sleeveless pullover, dark brown with gold stripe at the neck. These may be worn as well as, but not instead of, blazers. Parents may, if they wish, continue to purchase the long sleeve sweater. A plain black sweater may also be worn under the blazer in the autumn and spring term but no hoodies or jumpers with logos will be accepted.

Make Up

Make-up (including eyelash extensions, nail varnish, eyebrow pencilling, false nails and foundation) should not be worn at all by students.

School Bag

Black, dark brown or dark blue bag. Any logos on the school bag should be no larger than a credit card in size. When buying a bag, it might be helpful to ensure that an A4 ring binder sits comfortably inside along with books and items from the equipment list.

Bags obviously need to be waterproof with a secure fastener to prevent the contents getting wet. The idea is that (with your help at first) students should get into the good habit of checking their timetables each evening and packing their bags with the books and equipment they will need the following day; homework due in should go into the bag at this point.

Shirts

Trutex ‘Honey Gold’ or similar. Plain formal style. Long sleeves in the winter. Coloured or patterned T-shirts are not to be worn under shirts. During the Summer Term, students may wear short sleeved plain ‘Honey Gold’ shirts. Shirts must be tucked in, and top buttons fastened at all times.

Shoes

Black leather, or leather-effect shoes (not boots, casual slip-ons, canvas, or suede). Black trainers or trainer-style shoes with fashion logos or sports soles are not appropriate and may not be worn as school shoes.

The shoe needs to be a ‘full shoe’ (not slipper style) with a maximum heel height not to exceed 2.5cm, measured at the inside arch. No stiletto or kitten heels of any height – a square sensible heel is both comfortable and practical for school activities.

Skirts

All students must wear the Trutex Stitch Down Black Pleat Skirt. No other style of skirt will be acceptable. These skirts are available from Totally Uniform and Crested Schoolwear, although can be sourced from alternative suppliers if they are exactly the same style.

Skirts must be worn closer to the knee than the bottom of the blazer and they should not be rolled up. We would recommend that skirts purchased at the start of the year are of knee length to allow for any growth during the academic year.

Please be aware that if a student is wearing a skirt that is not in line with the school’s uniform policy due to it being too short or of an incorrect style, we will ask the student to change into a skirt that we have available until a new one is purchased.

Socks

Unpatterned and grey, dark brown, or black. Trainer socks are not acceptable.

With a skirt, students should wear black opaque tights.

Tie

Years 7 to 10 should wear a house-striped clip-on ties. Year 11 should wear the plain brown house-striped clip-on tie.

Trousers

Plain black formal school trousers. They should not be patterned or skinny fit. Jean, jean-style or chino material is not permitted. Pocket rivets and jean-style pocket stitching are also not acceptable.

Please be aware that if a student is wearing trousers that are not in line with the school’s uniform policy, we will ask the student to change into trousers that we have available until new ones are purchased.

Should you have any queries regarding the school’s view on a particular aspect of uniform, please refer to the uniform policy or contact your child’s Head of Year who will be happy to discuss the school’s expectations with you.

Equipment

Lesson time is precious. Bringing the correct equipment to lessons ensures that students are ready for the lesson and that no time is wasted. This allows students to maximise lesson time and make as much progress as possible.

Some subjects will also require students to bring specific equipment to their lessons:

  • An apron as necessary for art lessons (an old long-sleeved shirt is fine to use) and an apron for food lessons;
  • A set of drawing pencils to include HB, 2B, 3B, 4B, 5B, 6B, and a set of colouring pencils; and
  • The school PE kit on the days you have PE. This must be the school approved PE kit only.
