CURRICULUM CATCH UP:
GEOGRAPHY 🌍
Our students have been working hard in Geography this half term. Recently Year 7 have been learning how to read maps with 4 and 6 figure grid references, Year 8 have been identifying the key features of a drainage basin and explaining river process like erosion and deposition, and Year 9 have been assessing the consequences of an ageing population.
In GCSE, our Year 10’s have explored how Birmingham’s population has changed over time and Year 11 continued learning about the characteristics of the rainforest which they then applied to an examination style question.
In Year 12 physical geography lessons, students have been analysing the water balance equation and in human geography have been explaining how globalisation changes people’s sense of place.
Year 13 have been exploring coastal low energy environments and about spatial patterns of gender inequality.
We are also busy making preparations before the year 12 trip to Carding Mill Valley later in October. We are hoping for weather like last year!
Remember that Geography drop-in sessions are Wednesdays after school. Pop up to the Humanities floor to ask a question about revision, your homework or a specific concept.

HELLO YELLOW DAY 💛
On Friday 10 October, we’re proud to be taking part in #HelloYellow to support YoungMinds and show young people they’re not alone with their mental health.
Students can wear full uniform with a splash of yellow – from socks to hair accessories and gloves – the brighter and more creative, the better!
We’re asking for a voluntary contribution to the YoungMinds Trust Charity, aiming to raise £1,000 to help ensure all young people get the mental health support they need, when they need it.
👉 Donate via the link below and let’s make a difference together!
