Computing 💻
It’s been a busy and exciting start to the year in Computing!
🖱️ Year 7 students have settled brilliantly into using the school network and have been learning how to stay safe online - understanding the risks that come with using mobile phones and other digital platforms.
🔐 Year 8 have built on this by completing their Cyber-Security unit, exploring the world of malware and social engineering threats, and discovering how to protect our systems. They’ve even had a go at encrypting data using Caesar and Keyword Ciphers!
🎨 Year 9 have taken a creative turn, using graphic editing software to produce amazing “blended animals” and designing their own logos with vector graphics tools - some fantastic creativity on show!
💾 Year 10 are continuing to develop their coding and computing knowledge for GCSE, learning how images, sounds and text are created and stored on digital devices.
🌐 Year 11 have been diving deep into computer networks - from small local systems to the vast Internet - using Packet Tracer to simulate how data travels when we connect to the web. They’ve also started revising for their final exams with a “mock mock” ahead of their official November mocks.
Well done to all our Computing students for their hard work so far this term! 👏✨

CURRICULUM CATCH UP
Business and Media 📉📊🗂️🎞️
In Media, students have been diving into character profiles as part of our study of long-form TV dramas Money Heist and Stranger Things. They’ve been applying theoretical perspectives to explore how representation and media language shape meaning in the first episodes of each series. 🎬✨
Meanwhile, in Business, we’ve been examining the causes of change within organisations - from external threats like cyber attacks to shifts in ownership and budgeting decisions. With Christmas just around the corner, students have also been analysing festive adverts and how different businesses take unique approaches to connect with their audiences. 🎄📊
