Haybridge Sixth Form Open Morning – Saturday, 11 January- Book a time

Sixth Form Open Evening – Wednesday 15th October 2025 (no pre-registration is required)

Haybridge is open today Wednesday 20th November for all year groups.

Students and staff must take great care when making their way to school as after the recent snowfall roads and pavements may be a cause for concern and should only be travelled if families and individuals consider it safe to do so in their particular circumstances.

Please report any absences in the usual way.

Our last communication from the school transport companies suggested that they are running a normal service and they have yet to make us aware of any changes or cancellation to services.

Homework Information

We believe that the core purpose of homework is to support students in building sustainable habits of working independently away from the classroom, meeting deadlines, and consolidating knowledge taught in class to ensure long term retention. As such, we refer to ‘homework’ as ‘accountable revision’, and we set students in all year groups accountable revision tasks to develop specific knowledge skills, and understanding beyond the classroom.

  • Homework/revision for all year groups will be set via EduLink, making it easy for students, parents/carers, and staff to monitor the tasks set and due dates.
  • Students will be given at least a week to complete their accountable revision. E.g. tasks set Tuesday-to-Tuesday.
  • If a student has spent the allocated time on their revision/homework but has not been able to complete all tasks, parents/carers can give them a signed note to be shown to the class teacher so that no sanction is given.
  • If a student is absent when the revision/homework is set, it is their responsibility to catch up with any work missed in the lesson and find out what was set. However, they will not receive a sanction.

Revision/homework set during the holidays

  • Years 7, 8 and 9 students are not set subject revision/homework during the holidays but will be expected to complete 20 minutes of reading each day, with 40 minutes of this allocation being completed on Sparx Reader in order to achieve the expected weekly 300SRP.
  • Year 10 students will be set revision activities and will be expected to complete 20 minutes of reading each day, with 40 minutes of this allocation being completed on Sparx Reader in order to achieve the expected weekly 300SRP.
  • Year 11 students will be set revision activities during the holidays.
  • Years 12 and 13 students will continue to be set revision during the holidays as all A Level courses demand extensive study beyond the classroom.

Revision/Homework set during assessment periods

During each two-week assessment period window, no accountable revision tasks will be set. Students will receive a revision lesson in the two weeks prior to their assessment period, in which teachers will explicitly model the best revision techniques students should use independently. The relevant 100% sheets for the assessment period will be made available to students via Edulink four weeks before the assessment period begins; during the two weeks of assessments students are expected to use these resources and techniques to prepare.

Year 7

  • For the first two weeks of the autumn term, Year 7 students will only receive maths and reading tasks to complete at home. This consists of 30 minutes of reading daily, five times per week, (with 40 minutes of this allocation being completed on Sparx Reader in order to achieve the expected weekly 300SRP) and 90 minutes of compulsory maths revision/homework on Sparx maths. This is complemented by additional tasks which students can complete on Sparx. We recommend students complete 30 minutes of maths daily, four times per week. This will be set by the Mathematics Department and checked weekly.
